If you want to download the demo in order to do a Byte-Off review, use Rev. A (the same version that is hosted on the Retroverse website


Demo game made with NESmaker, for the 2022 edition of Byte-Off. This demo was made in only a few weeks and it is my first NES project.

Recommended emulators:

The best emulators for this are Mesen and FCEUX. Choose whichever emulator you want.

If you choose Mesen, I would recommend using NTSC filters so the image looks more like "the real thing".

You can also use a Everdrive cartridge and play it on a real Nintendo.

I have not included a "unrom hack" version of Revision A because it is highly unstable. I have included a unrom version for Rev. B

Note regarding the older demo version:
I am providing a Mapper 30 version of the rom as well as a "unrom hack" version, which can run on older emulators.

How to launch the game:

- Choose your favourite emulator
- Launch My Friendly A.I. Assistant Robot (Demo).nes

Controls:

UP: A
Shoot: B
Skip level: Select

Known issues:

- Hit detection bug causes player to get hurt when shooting balloons (only in Rev A)
- The player character sprite will change for something else briefly
- Lasers can get stuck in place
